Slime Rancher is a video game developed and published by Monomi Park, an American indie studio. It is a first-person life simulation adventure game that was first released as an early access title in January 2016. It was later officially released on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Xbox One on August 1, 2017, with a PlayStation 4 version following on August 21, 2018. A Nintendo Switch version was released on August 11, 2021. In June 2019, a DLC named 'Slime Rancher: Secret Style Pack' was released, which added more cosmetic options. Recently, a sequel to the game called Slime Rancher 2, was released in early access for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 22, 2022.
Where to find honey slimes in Slime Rancher?
In Slime Rancher 2, Honey Slimes are a unique type of slime that can be raised on your ranch. They produce Honey Plorts, which are highly valuable and can sell for around 45 Newbucks each. However, finding these Honey Slimes can be challenging, as they live in a secluded area on the remote island of Starlight Strand. To reach them, you must first defeat a Cotton Gordo Slime and activate the teleporter to Starlight Strand.
Once you arrive on the island, you'll need to search for the golden-brown Honey Slimes with a hexagonal honeycomb pattern on their foreheads. They are rare and take some effort to find, but you can use Mint Mango as bait to attract them. Keep them away from feline-like slimes such as Tabby and Hunter Slimes, as they will eat your Honey Slimes.
Honey Slimes are simple and cute, spawning only in the Moss Blanket and favoring Mint Mangoes. However, their only value is their Honey Plorts, which can attract other slimes and potentially cause a Tarr outbreak if not managed carefully. They are ideal for mid-game ranching and can provide a significant boost to your earnings.
How to get wild honey in Slime Rancher?
On Starlight Strand, Wild Honey can be found in black and yellow bee hives scattered throughout the area. If you see yellow liquid dripping from the hive, it means there is honey inside that you can collect using your vacuum. Once you have collected all the honey, the dripping will stop. These hives are located on different trees and are easy to spot.
To collect Wild Honey, you need to upgrade your vacuum at the Refiner first, which only requires 10 Cotton Plorts. This will allow you to gather crafting resources and minerals from the islands.
It is important to note that there is another similar-looking resource on Starlight Strand called Buzz Wax, which can be found in dark brown bee hives. To avoid confusion, be sure to interact only with the black and yellow hives containing Wild Honey.

Leaving Honey plorts lying around can lead to a Tarr outbreak in the Conservatory, so it's important to keep them contained in corrals with high walls and sky nets. This is a good practice for all corrals but is especially important for Honey slimes or Largos. If you're short on funds, prioritize securing the Honey slimes to prevent any potential disasters.
