The upgrade process involves four stages in total. The initial upgrade does not necessitate any Pale Ore. However, for the subsequent upgrades, players will need one Pale Ore for the second stage, two Pale Ores for the third stage, and a total of three Pale Ore to accomplish the final upgrade. Thus, to maximize the Knight's Nail and achieve its ultimate potential, players will require a total of six Pale Ore throughout their journey.

Where to Find Pale Ore Hollow Knight?

You could find the Pale Ore in various places in the Hollow Knight game.

1) Deepnest

• The lower left section of the map is the terrifying Deepnest, inhabited by some of the most fearsome and grotesque creatures in Hallownest. Although it can be a daunting area, you'll need to explore it to advance the story and enhance your combat prowess, which includes finding pale ore to upgrade your weapon.
• In Deepnest, specifically in the bottom right area, you'll encounter a hot spring. Proceed straight left from there until you reach a conspicuous breakable wall, identifiable by its trembling appearance. The first breakable wall can be located around the area marked with a red circle in the accompanying image. Smash through this wall and continue into the next area.
• As you venture further, you'll encounter another breakable wall on the left side. Continue following the path, and you'll eventually encounter a creature that bears an uncanny resemblance to yourself. Pursue this mysterious creature until you reach what appears to be a dead end. However, there's another hidden breakable wall awaiting you. Keep following the creature until it comes to a halt.
• This creature, known as Nosk, will then reveal its true form and engage you in battle. Defeat Nosk, and continue your journey until you reach the end of the area, where the pale ore can be found.

2) Forgotten Crossroads 

• Heading into the Forgotten Crossroads in a counterclockwise direction, you'll come across an essential location for obtaining pale ore in Hollow Knight. This particular location is relatively easy to find, as it involves visiting the Grubfather, who resides in Grubhome. As soon as you descend into the depths of Hallownest, head straight to the left, and you'll quickly encounter Grubhome along with the Grubfather himself.
• However, the Grubfather won't just hand over the pale ore; you must complete a task for him first. Scattered throughout the map are his offspring, adorable grubs. Your objective is to find at least 31 of these grubs out of a total of 46, and upon doing so, the Grubfather will reward you with the precious pale ore.

3) Ancient Basin

• Adjacent to Deepnest lies the Ancient Basin section. To access it, you can take the tram from Deepnest, which will lead you into Ancient Basin. Once you disembark from the tram, head directly left to find a hole you can jump down into, granting access to another area.
• The approximate location of this hole is marked with a red circle in the image. As you progress through this new area, continue heading left until you ultimately discover the Hollow Knight pale ore.

4) Hallownest's Crown

• Located at the top right corner of the map, Hallownest's Crown stands as the final Hollow Knight pale ore location. To reach this area, you must venture through the upper right region of Crystal Peak. Additionally, the Mantis Claw ability is essential for accessing this part of the map.
• While abilities such as the mothwing cloak and monarch wings are recommended, skilled players can achieve this without them by demonstrating exceptional timing and precision.
• Hollow Knight is a challenging game, and enhancing your weapon's strength becomes crucial when facing formidable enemies and bosses.
• Although some pale ore locations may prove more difficult to reach, the effort is well worth it, as it allows you to fortify your Knight's Nail, ensuring you can tackle even the most formidable foes with confidence.

5) Colosseum of Fools

• Located in the Kingdom's Edge section, the Colosseum of Fools is a competitive arena where you can prove your mettle as a gladiator by overcoming waves of formidable foes. Climbing your way to the top of this area will lead you to a colossal deceased bug. Inside this bug's remains, you'll find the entrance to the Colosseum.
• Within the Colosseum, you'll find three challenging trials, with each subsequent one being more difficult than the last. Completing the second trial, known as the Trial of the Conqueror, will reward you with precious pale ore. However, you must first conquer the initial trial to unlock and participate in the second one.

6) Seer's Wisdom

• To acquire another pale ore, you must journey to the resting grounds and visit the Seer. However, gaining access to this location and receiving the Dream Nail, a necessary tool for accumulating essence, requires substantial progress in the game.
• Once you've gathered 300 essences, the Seer will reward your efforts with the coveted pale ore.

Hollow Knight
