• Dre attended Vanguard Junior High School in Compton in 1976 but transferred to Roosevelt Junior High School due to gang violence.
• The family lived in various locations, including Compton, Carson, Long Beach, and neighbourhoods in Los Angeles.
• Dre spent much of his upbringing in the New Wilmington Arms housing project in Compton, primarily raised by his grandmother.
• His mother later married Warren Griffin, adding three step-sisters and one step-brother, Warren G, to the family.
• Dre is the cousin of producer Sir Jinx.
• He attended Centennial High School in Compton but transferred to Fremont High School in South Central Los Angeles due to poor grades.
