Miles Pfeffer is charged with multiple offenses related to the tragic shooting that resulted in the death of Temple University Police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald. Officer Fitzgerald had notified his colleagues via radio that he was involved in a foot pursuit just prior to the shooting. His fellow officers discovered him with several gunshot injuries to his upper torso and face.

Miles was captured on video surveillance firing a handgun at Fitzgerald, causing him to collapse. The footage reveals that the suspect continued to shoot Fitzgerald multiple times while standing over him.

Miles is facing a range of charges, including murder, murder of a law enforcement officer, carjacking, and robbery, and has been denied bail by the prosecutors.

According to their Facebook profiles, Jill Petrushka and Marc Pfeffer, Miles Pfeffer's parents, are originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They relocated to their current home on Boxley Farm, located along Quarry Road, four years ago.

Recently, a team consisting of multiple agencies carried out a raid on the property on February 19, 2023. During the operation, Miles was apprehended, and several weapons were confiscated. Jill was also taken in for questioning by the authorities.

The officers used Fitzgerald's handcuffs to restrain Miles, as it is a tradition that is observed when a law enforcement officer dies in the line of duty. According to Clark, this was done to honor Fitzgerald's memory.

Residents living in the vicinity informed CBS News that law enforcement officials made frequent visits to Miles' residence. Police officers stated that Miles had been involved in "nuisance crimes" in the area, which had led to several confrontations with the authorities.

Michael Moeller, a neighbor, informed CBS News that he does not have any personal connections with the Pfeffer family, despite their close proximity. Moeller mentioned that people in the countryside generally keep to themselves, but he has heard noise from their property on occasions.

Miles' private Instagram account features pictures of money and bicycles. One particular photo shows a male holding several $20 bills in front of his face, with a pistol visibly tucked into his waistband. The caption on the picture reads, "Work hard not hard; make stupid decisions face stupid consequences."

As per journalist Steve Keeley, the shooting of Fitzgerald was witnessed by Miles' brother. Keeley tweeted that law enforcement informed FOX29 that the brother of the accused killer was present with him when Officer Fitzgerald attempted to stop them. He further stated that the brother saw and heard the incident, after which he took shelter in an alley, observed the officer chasing Miles Pfeffer, and later heard gunshots. Keeley also mentioned that Miles fled the location in a stolen vehicle and was later picked up by Jill at 29th Street & Ridge Avenue, and driven to his home. It is not known whether Jill's brother will face any legal charges.
