Over 26 years have passed since the disappearance of Morgan Nick, a 6-year-old who went missing while playing with friends during a little league game in northwest Arkansas. The FBI stated that on June 9, 1995, the girl was taken from a parking lot near the Wofford baseball field in Alma, a town in Crawford County with a population of several thousand.
Until now, the abductor responsible for Morgan's disappearance has not been recognized, and her family and authorities in Arkansas and other places are still perplexed by her vanishing. Colleen Nick, Morgan's mother, shared with the USA TODAY Network that she never imagined that her daughter would still be absent, and she believes that someone holds the key to the truth about what happened to her.
Earlier this month, the FBI declared that authorities might be on the brink of uncovering the abductor responsible for Morgan's disappearance.
The FBI has also stated that individuals in Tennessee could possess valuable information. The agency has identified Billy Jack Lincks as a person of interest in the case as of November 9, and FBI agents are requesting any relevant details about him. It is important to note that Lincks passed away in jail in 2000.
According to Connor Hagan, an FBI spokesperson located in Little Rock, "We suspect he had connections to the area. Although there is no conclusive evidence linking him to Tennessee, there is a high probability that he had links to individuals in the state."
"We are going far back in time. Although people relocate, we are circulating this information to all neighboring states of Arkansas, ranging from Mississippi to Missouri, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas, to gather as much information as possible. There must be individuals who are familiar with him. Someone must know something," stated an FBI representative.
As per the FBI, Lincks was a native of Crawford County, Arkansas, and spent his childhood there. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was employed at Braniff Airlines in Dallas between 1962 and 1974. In the late 1970s, he came back to Van Buren, Arkansas.
Approximately two months after Morgan went missing, Lincks reportedly made an unsuccessful attempt to abduct a young girl in Van Buren, which is eight miles away from the baseball field where Morgan was last spotted, according to the FBI. Lincks died while in custody in 2000.
The FBI is urging anyone who had connections with Lincks to come forward and provide any information they may have. "We need details about Lincks and his entire life, whether it be through school, work, church, or any social activity," Hagan stated.
The Morgan Nick Foundation was established by Morgan's mother in 1996 to offer a support system to parents and families of missing children.
