Withers played college basketball for Queens University of Charlotte from 2015 to 2018. During his college career, he was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team in his senior year. He was also named to the Division II All-America First Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

After college, Withers went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. He signed with the Grand Rapids Drive of the NBA G League, where he played for one season. He then signed with Fortitudo Bologna of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A, where he played for one season.
