Barry Nash's Playing Career
South Liberties
At a young age, Nash became a member of the South Liberties club, where he played across various levels, from juvenile to underage, before eventually joining the senior team.
Limerick
Minor and under-21
His journey with the Limerick team began as part of the county's minor squad. On 23 July 2013, Nash made an impact by scoring three points in play during Limerick's triumph over Waterford in a replay of the final, securing their first Munster Championship title in 29 years with a scoreline of 1-20 to 4-08.
The following year, in 2014, Nash continued his success with the minor team, winning a second consecutive Munster Championship medal after defeating Waterford in the final replay with a score of 0-24 to 0-18. In the All-Ireland final on 7 September 2014, despite his efforts of scoring two points, Limerick faced a defeat of 2-17 to 0-19 against Kilkenny.
Moving on to the under-21 team, on 30 July 2015, Nash claimed a Munster Championship medal with Limerick following their 0-22 to 0-19 victory over Clare in the final. He further showcased his skills on 12 September 2015, being named the man of the match in the All-Ireland final as Limerick emerged victorious with a scoreline of 0-26 to 1-07 against Wexford.
After a title loss in 2016, Nash bounced back in 2017, winning a second Munster Championship medal in a thrilling final against Cork, finishing with a score of 0-16 to 1-11. His performance at left corner-forward was crucial in Limerick's 0-17 to 0-11 victory over Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final on 9 September 2017.
Senior
In January 2016, Nash received the call-up to join the Limerick senior hurling team. He made his debut appearance in a National Hurling League match on 13 February 2016, where Limerick secured a convincing 2-23 to 0-15 victory against Wexford. Later in the season, Nash had his first Munster Championship outing but faced a 3-12 to 1-16 defeat against Tipperary.
Unexpectedly, on 6 February 2017, Nash withdrew from the Limerick senior hurling panel citing "personal reasons." Team manager John Kiely acknowledged the situation, expressing confidence that Nash would play a significant role in the team's future and might even return to training later that year. Surprisingly, just a little over a month after leaving the panel, Nash resumed training.
Although not on the field, Nash was part of the Limerick squad that clinched their first All-Ireland title in 45 years on 19 August 2018. They achieved a thrilling 3-16 to 2-18 victory over Galway in the final.
Nash found himself on the bench during Limerick's National League final against Waterford at Croke Park on 31 March 2019. Despite not playing, he received a winners' medal as Limerick secured a 1-24 to 0-19 victory. Later, on 30 June 2019, Nash earned a Munster Championship medal after coming on as a 70th-minute substitute for Declan Hannon in Limerick's triumphant 2-26 to 2-14 defeat of Tipperary in the final.
Continuing his success, Nash obtained a second consecutive National League medal on 25 October 2020, with Limerick emerging victorious in the delayed final against Clare, ending with a scoreline of 0-36 to 1-23. Moreover, during the same season, he secured another Munster Championship medal while playing at left corner-back in the final, where Limerick triumphed over Waterford with a score of 0-25 to 0-21.
