Fast and Furious 6

Fast & Furious 6, also known as Furious 6 in the on-screen title and as Wild Speed: Euro Mission in Japan is a 2013 action film directed by Justin Lin and written by Chris Morgan. It serves as a sequel to Fast Five (2011) and is the sixth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise.

The movie features Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto and Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner, along with an ensemble cast including Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Sung Kang, Luke Evans, Gina Carano, and John Ortiz.

In the film, Toretto, O'Conner, and their team are given an opportunity for pardons in exchange for assisting DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Johnson) in apprehending a mercenary organization led by former British SAS Major Owen Shaw (Evans), which includes Toretto's former lover Letty Ortiz (Rodriguez).

The plans for a sixth film were already in motion as early as February 2010, prior to the production of Fast Five. The confirmation came in April 2011 when Chris Morgan began writing the screenplay, and the returns of Vin Diesel, Justin Lin, and producer Neal H. Moritz were announced in June. Discussions of filming the sixth installment alongside a potential seventh movie emerged but were ultimately abandoned once principal photography began in July 2012.

The filming process extended until December of that year, with shooting locations spanning Los Angeles, London, Glasgow, and the Canary Islands. Similar to its predecessor, Fast & Furious 6 heavily relied on practical stuntwork, which necessitated the creation of specialized vehicles for the film. Brian Tyler, who had composed the music for the previous three films, was unable to return due to scheduling conflicts, and Lucas Vidal took over as the composer.

Fast & Furious 6 had its premiere at Empire, Leicester Square on May 7, 2013, and was subsequently released in the United Kingdom on May 17 and in the United States on May 24, distributed by Universal Pictures.

The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with particular praise directed towards Justin Lin's direction, the performances of the cast, and the exhilarating action sequences. It achieved a global box office gross of $788.7 million, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of 2013 and, at the time, the fourth highest-grossing film distributed by Universal.

It also became the highest-grossing film in the Fast & Furious franchise until it was surpassed by its successor, Furious 7, released in 2015. It is worth noting that Fast & Furious 6 is the last film in the franchise to be released during Paul Walker's lifetime, as he tragically passed away in a single-vehicle accident on November 30, 2013.

Why is Fast And Furious 6 Not On Peacock?

Those who don't own the Fast & Furious films, it has been challenging to watch them all as they are scattered across different streaming platforms, with some not even available on subscription services. Fortunately, this problem is set to be resolved in the near future.

Peacock, a streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, will be offering several of the Fast & Furious movies. Leading up to the release of Fast X, Peacock has already made F9 and Furious 7 available on its platform. In a recent announcement, Peacock revealed that on June 1st, they will be adding the first five films in the franchise to their lineup.

This means that subscribers will have access to The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, and Fast Five. With these additions, Peacock will have a total of seven Fast Saga films available for streaming.

This move by Peacock provides a convenient solution for fans who want to relive the Fast & Furious series or catch up on any missed installments. Having the majority of the films on a single streaming service makes it easier and more accessible for viewers to enjoy the entire Fast Saga.
