Will Dhoni Play IPL 2023 1st Match?

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 opener between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) approaches, there are concerns about CSK captain MS Dhoni's availability for the much-anticipated clash. According to a report in The Indian Express, Dhoni has been struggling with a niggle in his left knee and may not feature in the opening match. As the franchise does not have many keeping options, the 41-year-old may not push himself too much if he is in discomfort. However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has dismissed all injury concerns surrounding the captain, stating that Dhoni is "100 percent playing." In case Dhoni is unavailable, New Zealand's Devon Conway or Ambati Rayudu could keep wickets, while England's Ben Stokes looks to be the most suitable replacement for captaincy. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has led Maharashtra in domestic cricket, is also a potential option for CSK.
