Wrong Side Of The Tracks season 2 review

Although the first season of Wrong Side of the Tracks (original title: Entrevías) had a clear purpose in its multi-layered storyline, the plot of the second season appears to be more open-ended. While the characters have already been established, the stakes have become higher, and it feels like creator David Bermejo and his writing team are mixing all the elements from the first season to see what new scenarios emerge. However, the second season's story flows smoothly, despite its extended-length episodes, because we are familiar with each ensemble member's position and motives.

The plot of Season 2 of Wrong Side of the Tracks (original title: Entrevías) has broadened compared to the more focused story of the first season. Tirso's objective has changed from solely protecting Irene to taking on all the gangs in the neighborhood. Nata and Nelson are aiming to control the area by partnering with a mysterious trafficker known as "Ghost," while Ezequiel attempts to secure his freedom by infiltrating Nata's gang. Irene, who is grateful for Tirso's strict rules, becomes involved with Nelson in a way that may displease her mother and grandfather.

It seems that David Bermejo did not initially plan for a second season, but due to the show's success on Netflix, he and his team had to develop reasonable plotlines for it. Nonetheless, it remains enjoyable to watch the cantankerous Coronado, the cunning Ezequiel, and the introspective Irene as they navigate the ever-changing landscape of the neighborhood.

In the final scene of the first episode of Wrong Side of the Tracks' second season, Irene's voice message reveals that she's pregnant with Nathan's child, and we see Nathan's phone light up with the message while he's having sex with Nata in the background.

María de Nati delivers an impressive performance as Nata, portraying her as a fierce antagonist who establishes herself as the primary villain of the season by the end of the first episode. During a conversation about patrolling the corner, Pepe jokes about the three of them slapping people around like The A-Team, a reference that may appeal to fans of the classic show. However, it should be noted that The A-Team was known for their ability to shoot without causing harm and drove a memorable van.

Wrong Side Of The Tracks season 2 ending explained

While digging into Irene’s case file, Amanda discovered that she wasn’t the only young woman to have been brutally raped by the criminals involved. Though Irene didn’t want to discuss it, Amanda persisted, knowing that if they didn’t speak up, more women would suffer the same fate. Through her investigation, Amanda learned that Salgado had connections to the Aloha brothel, where the young women were brought to be assaulted. When Tirso found out that Salgado was the main suspect in Irene’s assault, he was consumed by rage and a desire for revenge. However, when he was about to kill Salgado, Irene intervened, not wanting to see her grandfather go to prison for life. Despite Tirso's intentions, Amanda ultimately put an end to Salgado's reign of terror by shooting him from behind. In the end, Amanda was prepared to face the consequences and was arrested by the police.

Amanda's past was marked by tragedy involving the Ghost. Her father was a police officer in the Valencia neighborhood who was shot by thugs with an unusual weapon. Curious about the origin of the weapon, Amanda investigated and discovered a powerful figure supplying guns and drugs to the criminals in the neighborhood. Finding out about the Ghost became personal for her. When Amanda finally identified Salgado as the Ghost, she attempted to arrest him, but realized that the justice system couldn't always control those with power. Salgado humiliated her, causing Amanda to tear up the warrant and eat it. Jimena, Amanda's lover, was later captured by Salgado's men, which made Amanda feel defeated. But she refused to give up and sought revenge with the help of Tirso. However, Amanda intervened when Tirso was about to shoot Salgado to prevent Tirso's imprisonment and allow Jimena to be with her father. She took responsibility for killing Salgado and accepted the consequences.

Ezequiel was known for leaking information and being manipulated by Sandro, but his true aim was to prevent Sandro from harming anyone. Despite being a traitor, he also served as a protector of the neighborhood. Once Salgado was released on bail, he became interested in Ezequiel, but Nata informed him that Ezequiel was actually a police informant. To prevent any further communication, Salgado arranged for someone to shoot Ezequiel in public. Fortunately, Ezequiel survived (or at least that was implied at the end of the series), and we can expect to see more of his quirky personality in the next season.
