Your Honour season 2 ending explained
Michael Desiato's life started to unravel when he advised his son to lie about his involvement in a hit-and-run accident. This led to his son's death, and Michael realized that lying causes more harm than good, and the truth always comes out eventually. While on the witness stand, Michael chose not to lie about not seeing Eugene Jones, even though he was indirectly responsible for the deaths of Eugene's entire family. He could have put things right by lying, but instead, he decided to tell the truth.
Michael only revealed the details about meeting Eugene before Adam's death after Lee prodded him about it. Following his testimony, an investigation was launched, and Michael came clean about everything. However, it's unclear if he kept any details from the cops to protect them, especially since Charlie is still the mayor. Michael listed down all his crimes and walked into a prison facility, and it's unclear if he'll be in prison for the rest of his life, but he's accepted whatever sentence he received.
Your Honor season 2 finale recap
When Michael is subpoenaed to testify at Eugene Jones' trial, he initially doesn't want to take the stand. However, he ultimately decides to tell the truth and confesses to seeing Eugene shoot Adam. Lee, recognizing Michael's vulnerability and commitment to honesty, encourages him to reveal everything he knows. Michael confesses to concealing his son's crime of killing Rocco Baxter.
Eugene then takes the stand and shares his story, including how his family died in a gas leak. Hearing this triggers a memory for Michael, and he shares it with Lee, suggesting that they can use it to help Eugene's case. Eugene explains that he was out buying food for his family because they had not paid the gas bill for months, indicating that there couldn't have been a gas leak.
