The authorities expressed concerns that the YouTuber might tamper with or destroy potential evidence stored on his phone and laptop if given more time.
During the incident, a substantial crowd, primarily comprising youths and teenagers, had gathered for the event. As per the police, the YouTuber was accused of using explicit language while performing songs and making objectionable remarks during the program.
Mr. Thoppi has been charged with several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 283 (causing obstruction in a public place) and 294 (b) (uttering or singing any obscene song), as well as section 67 of the Information Technology Act (IT Act). The officer confirmed that these charges have been filed against the YouTuber.
Additionally, based on the First Information Report (FIR), the owner of the shop where the incident took place has also been registered with the same sections under the IPC. The YouTuber will soon be presented before a court for further proceedings, as stated by the officer.
