Tears of The Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It serves as the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, released in 2017. Tears of the Kingdom retains the open world environment of Hyrule and expands it to offer more opportunities for vertical exploration. In the game, the protagonist, Link, teams up with Princess Zelda to defeat Ganondorf, who poses a threat to the kingdom of Hyrule.

The idea for Tears of the Kingdom originated when the scope of downloadable content (DLC) for Breath of the Wild exceeded its original plans. The development of the game was led by Nintendo's Entertainment Planning & Development (EPD) division, with Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the director of Breath of the Wild, and Eiji Aonuma, the producer, reprising their roles. A teaser for Tears of the Kingdom was showcased at E3 2019, followed by a full reveal at E3 2021. Initially scheduled for release in 2022, the game was later delayed and finally launched in May 2023.

Tears of the Kingdom has received critical acclaim, with particular praise directed towards its numerous improvements, expanded open world, and features that encourage exploration and experimentation. Players have welcomed the enhancements made to the game, creating a positive reception for this highly anticipated sequel.
